William G. Schmitz

Mr. Schmitz joined Arthur J. Rogers & Co. in 1969 and directs the firm's overall operation. He has more than 40 years of commercial and industrial real estate experience, and is involved in all phases of corporate real estate services including receiverships, development, leasing, sales, asset management, investments and syndications.

Major Accomplishments:

  • Oversees operation of more than five million square feet of commercial and industrial properties in the Chicago suburban corridors.
  • Has been involved in over two million square feet of distressed commercial properties for large institutions with a success rate of 100%.
  • Has negotiated new, renewal and expansion leases for both industrial and commercial properties in Cook, Lake, Kane and DuPage Counties.

George Crawford
Property Manager

Mr. Crawford joined Arthur J. Rogers & Co. in 1990 in the firm's transportation group. In 1993, he accepted a position in the maintenance department at O'Hare Office Center in Des Plaines, Illinois, a 200,000 square foot office building complex consisting of four buildings. Then in 1994, Mr. Crawford moved to the same position at Rogers Industrial Park, an 835,000 square foot industrial complex with twenty-three buildings in Elk Grove Village, where he continued in maintenance until 1998, when he was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor.

Mr. Crawford is now the Property Manager of the Elk Grove office where he oversees the daily operation of more than 1,000,000 square foot of industrial property. Mr. Crawford is also very active in politics. In 2005, he was elected Alderman in Belvidere, Illinois.

John Smart, RPA
Property Manager

Mr. Smart joined Arthur J. Rogers & Co. in 1973, and has over 35 years of Property/Asset Management experience, and has received the Building Owners & Managers Association's (BOMA) designation of "Real Property Administrator". Specializing in third party management assignments, Mr. Smart is recognized in the industry as a specialist and expert in property turnarounds and efficiently managing properties within budget parameters. Additionally, his technical knowledge and experience with building operating systems has proven invaluable to the firm's customers. Mr. Smart is a member of BOMA.

Paul S. Watte
Property Manager

Mr. Watte has more than 25 years of property management, and commercial and industrial real estate experience. His diversified experience includes executive management, day-to-day property management, financial reporting, leasing and acquisition. Mr. Watte is also knowledgeable in construction management, construction technology, building systems, Americans with Disability Act (ADA) compliance, and environmental and green-building technologies.

Mr. Watte has successfully managed portfolios in excess of 10,000,000 SF for corporate and institutional clients by focusing on the basic principal of listening to the owner's goals and implementing sound management programs. During his six-year tenure as President & Chief Operating Officer of the Asset Management Group at NAI Hiffman, he served as President of the NAI Property Management Council and worked with affiliates nationwide on property management service opportunities.

Mr. Watte received his Bachelor of Science in Earth Science from Northern Illinois University, and has completed numerous post-graduate courses in project management, construction management, and financial analysis at the University of Wisconsin's (Madison) School of Real Estate. He is a member of the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) and has completed all course work for the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.

He is currently in training to achieve his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED-AP) designation, a program launched in 2001 by the U.S. Green Building Council. He is also a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois.

Paul enjoys playing golf and is an avid car collector who owns several antique Corvettes.

Rodney D. Clark
Strategic Alliance Partner

Mr. Clark has 36 years of professional experience including more than 23 years in facilities management and maintenance. He began his career in 1974 with the General Electric Company. He began his 15-year tenure in GE's Financial Management Program, and then served in numerous financial-management positions before being elevated to Manager of Pricing and Contracts for GE Information Services. He was then promoted to Manager of the Material and Facilities Operation.

In 1989, Mr. Clark spun off this facilities operation division into his new company, Facilities PLUS. The firm brings client-specific solutions to a broad range of customers through a unique combination of cost-effective facility management, maintenance, and telecommunications management services. Throughout the past two decades, the firm has supported more than 400 client sites totaling over 6,000,000 SF in the United States, Europe, the Pacific Rim, and South America.

Arthur J. Rogers & Co. formed a strategic alliance with Facilities PLUS to provide more efficient and cost-effective facility management services to clients on a global basis. One of Mr. Clark's proudest accomplishments is when Facilities PLUS was ranked 97th on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing companies in America.
